Amish Made Fan Back Glider

In the "Adirondack" loveseat style, this high back glider is made of western red cedar. This spacious glider comfortably seats two, built for large folks and great for patios. The wood glider is 42" high x 52" wide x 30" deep. The sitting area seat is 19" deep, 48" wide and the back is 31" high. Our lawn furniture is shipped partially assembled, with easy to follow instructions. Our seats are contoured for comfort. All our gliders have ball-bearing glider mechanisms for smooth gliding action.

All of our patio furniture products are made from natural tight knotty Western Red Cedar with non-staining hardware. Western Red Cedar is lightweight, dimensionally stable, and naturally resistant to splitting, cupping, and warping. We choose to use Western Red Cedar over treated lumber, as the treated lumber contains arsenic and other known carcinogenic chemicals as preservatives. Western Red Cedar gives our patio furniture strength, beauty & rot resistance to the elements. We offer a larger double seat Fanback version of this glider.

The glider arrives without a finish, just natural wood. The close-up shows a bit of construction detail. Each piece is ready for staining, clear finish or simply leave natural. An oil finish or clear varnish with UV light protection will bring out the beauty of the grain and a bit of red tinge in the wood. If the Western Red Cedar is left natural, it will weather to an unpretentious gray.

Are you thinking about a finish?

A very traditional rustic look can be done with polyurethane with UV light protection. This will slightly darken the wood while bringing out a bit of red tinge found in the grain. An alternative finish is an opaque stain, which looks like paint, but doesn’t chip or peel as can happen with paint. You should apply a finish that will waterproof the wood, and prevent water spots & stains from ruining the look of the wood. Please consult your local paint expert, as there are always new products coming onto the market.
